Designed with the intent of reaching out to the Laotian American community since the community has one of the lowest voting turn out rates among Asian Americans. This "Make the Tradition of Voting" campaign engages with the tradition of "thak baht" where offerings such as rice, snacks, fruits, money, and flowers are placed in a bowl called "khan ngeune" which symbolizes merit and doing good deeds. I wanted to connect this cultural practice with voting as it should be seen as one's "good deed" or responsibility. However rather than typical items being in the khan, items such as a voting card and forms of ID represent the important "offerings" as they're things needed to go vote.
