Lucille Tenazas is a designer and educator that I've come to personally admire. Her work is strongly influenced by her experience of being a Filipina woman immigrating to the U.S. and traveling the world, which she shows in her designs through the ways she combines type, photography & language. She would create a dynamic viewing experience by thoughtfully layering these components on various posters or magazine covers. However, what I personally love about her work is how she places importance on the design process & gathering inspiration from everyday mundane things. This led me to creating this 16 page printed zine called "Everything is Mundane" that I designed & copy wrote based on the works, philosophy, & style of Lucille Tenazas.
The way she uses language and typography creates a beautifully interesting reading experience for the viewer which I wanted to replicate. She combines different typefaces, plays around with the tracking, leading, and kerning of words, and adds disruptions to the text by cropping or varying angles which encourages the viewer to be engaged and interact with the text.
